Curio What?

Hello darlings, Swirly here. Yes, it has been far too long, but Swirly has had much more fabulous things to do than share style tips with her adoring fans. Live with it.

The marvelous Siyu Suen of Illusions fame told Swirly some time ago that she simply must visit Curio Obscura as they have the BIGGEST hats in Second Life. Of course, with Swirly off doing so many important and fabulous things, it took her quite some time to heed Siyu's advice. Swirly had the opportunity to chat ever so briefly with the designer behind Curio Obscura, a delightful young lady by the name of Pandora Wrigglesworth, who has a rather odd obsession with clocks and witches. As Swirly spoke with Pandora only long enough to procure some fabulous gifts, she really can't tell you much more about the dear girl. But that hardly matters, as this post is about Swirly.

Curio Obscura's Sausage Curls Galore hair is a delightfully bouncy, flexi style that magically changes colour when you touch it. Swirly is wearing it with the Mini Hat with Rose in Rose Pink, which clearly is not the biggest hat in Second Life, but is still rather marvelous.

This is the Clockwork Edwardian Dress and Hat in Pink. Believe it or not, the hat is included with the dress darlings! And what a hat it is, Swirly had to zoom right out with the camera thingy to be able to fit it in the photo. The dress is rather fabulous too, with puffy sleeves and a huge bustle that draws attention to Swirly's bottom beautifully. You can stop staring now dears. The dress is also available in Black, Blue, Copper, Red, Silver and White.

Now believe Swirly when she tells you, The Clockwork Brain is THE next big thing in high fashion. Forget Cachet, forget Paper Couture (well, actually don't forget PC darlings), you NEED a brain. Swirly found it quite a relief to not have to think for herself, as this marvelous moving, smoking clockwork brain took over all of the work for her. Swirly is actually naked in the picture above, yes, NAKED as the day she was born. The Clockwork Automaton Lady skin (shown here in pink of course darlings) saves you the bother of choosing clothes in the morning, as you don't actually look naked when you wear it. How clever!

Another fabulously huge hat at Curio Obscura is The Witchonista Hat. Swirly is wearing it in black but like all of the hats from Curio Obscura, it comes in a range of other delightful colours, including pink! Swirly is wearing it with the Frills Shirt in Sky White from Royal Blue, which has the most delightful collar.

There are many more treasures to be found at Curio Obscura, far more than Swirly could ever be bothered to show you in a blog post. Do drop by if you like clocks and witches darlings!

Fabulous Sculptures from TESLA

Hello darlings, Swirly here. Dear little Tesla Miles is a miller of some reknown in Second Life. For those of you who lack a little something in the vocabulary department, a miller is someone who makes hats. Look it up darlings, learn something for a change. Tesla has a modest store which she has creatively named TESLA. All of Tesla's hats are made from sculpted prims - yes my lovelies, they are created with CLAY, not that horrid plywood. Her fabulous hat sculptures have been featured on Fashion Victim before, but the blogger concerned hardly did them justice. Really darlings, these things should be left to Swirly.

This divine leopard skin hat is inexplicably called "Sammy". Despite being sculpted entirely from clay and lovingly baked in a kiln, it's light as a feather! And just look at those fabulous shoes darlings. LOOK AT THEM! Those are Tesla's new Jane shoes which are available in a multitude of colours, but Swirly chose leopard because it's her favourite colour, and she didn't have enough lindens to buy the other colours. These have adjustable ankle straps, which is very fortunate because Swirly has tankles. Tankles are sexy curvaceous ankles in case you didn't know dears. The clay shoes and hat look marvelous when teamed with the Miss Gregorio set from artilleri. And doesn't Swirly look SO much better than all those other fashionistas in the new Tete a Pied Vivant skin? That's Kyoko 1 in Almond for those of you who want to try to emulate Swirly's unique style and fail miserably.

The Tesla Rose Cocktail Hat is slightly reminiscent of some kind of flower. Swirly was AMAZED that she could pole dance while wearing it and it didn't fall off her head - a true testament to Tesla's talent. Swirly is also wearing the Adrianne Set from artilleri and Maitreya's very sexy Enchant shoes in the colour "Squiggle" which are sculptures too! Her jewelry is the Love and Lipstick Set by future husband Lucas Lameth of EARTHTONES Boutique and that utterly divine skin is Rita - Flapper from Gala Skins.

Another sneak peek from Mercury

OK, so I was over all the Mercury hype, I swear. Until Wilhelmena Whitfield sent me this hat. Just LOOK at this hat! Called the Mercury Morning Hat, it is simply to die for. Seriously - I have already had a couple of people want to kill me for it, thank god it's no transfer or I could find myself in trouble with some extremely jealous friends... *cough* Swirly and Dakota *cough*. Wilhemina says they are looking at opening Mercury very soon, and hope to bring their French "je ne sais quoi" and rock and roll together in the store. Hurry up already, I cannot wait!

Divine Hats from Illusions

Hello darlings, Swirly here. As you would all be aware, Swirly's style is as subtle and demure as Swirly is herself. Never one to draw attention to herself, she avoids larger accessories and chooses smaller, less dramatic pieces to accentuate her look, always adhering to the old adage "less is more". That's why Swirly was thrilled to visit Illusions and discover the range of hats and masks available from talented designer Siyu Suen. These delicate and understated pieces are quite simply works of art, and were just made for Swirly!

Siyu has released a new version of her Eliza's Ascot Hat. You can see the previous version reviewed on Linden Lifestyles, but Swirly can tell you that this version is better because it's made from sculpties! Swirly isn't quite sure what sculpties are but can tell you this - they're new, so they must be good! This hat features lovely roses, ostrich feathers, bows and a lace veil - just divine darlings!

This is the Captains Hat and yes, it's a pirate hat for all you swashbuckling types out there! The brim and feathers are tintable too!

Swirly's favourite hat is the Sabrina Top Hat, named after that fabulous fashionista Sabrina Doolittle. It features the most adorable dead little bird, and tintable band. It's also available in white. Look out for a Swirly hat from Illusions soon!

Siyu also makes the most fabulous masks and has a bargain section with a selection of masks which all cost less than 50L! Believe it or not, Swirly had never worn a mask before, fearing it would conceal her natural beauty. But at those prices, she couldn't resist, and as you can see, she looks as radiant as ever. Shown below are the Lucky Pheonix Mask, The Enigmatic Mask of Sake Rahja and the Grand Peacock Mask.
You can see more of Siyu's work on her blog, and do make sure to visit Illusions to pick up a lovely hat or mask for yourself!

Sculptie Hats from Tesla

Tesla Miles has released a range of sculptie hats which demonstrate the creativity that can now be unleashed upon a single prim. Tesla hats range from sophisticated to cute and girly, and are extremely affordably priced from 50L up, which is quite impressive for hats of this quality. Many of the hats on offer are just 1 prim and the texturing is superb given that these are sculpted prims. All of Tesla's hats are modifiable so you can resize them, and copiable too which is a necessity for those inevitable editing stuff ups. Go grab them here!

FABULOUS New Hats from kyoot

Saeya Nyanda from Kyoot is a lovely girl who unfortunately suffers from some serious literacy problems. Cute is not spelt "kyoot" darling, where did you go to school? Despite her obvious educational deficits, Saeya has managed to excel in other areas, and is known for being quite clever with those prim things which have taken SL by storm. Saeya also created the Photosphere, which is much too technical for Swirly to even begin to explain to her less educated readers, but suffice to say it's a sphere for photos. Now Saeya has branched out into much more important areas of creativity. Yes darlings, Saeya is designing fabulous hats! Shown above is the absolutely divine but ridiculously named Sophistitwisted Cocktail Hat. This is an understated piece which Swirly found is perfect for that first cocktail of the day at 10am. But once you leave the house, how best to wear such an adorable little hat? Swirly recommends a demure yet stylish outfit with subtle accessories that won't overshadow your head piece. The Fierce Dress in Gold from Pixel Dolls teamed with the Trimmed Gloves in Yellow and Tintable Feather Boa from Masks and Feathers, as shown below, are perfect for an understated, yet elegant look.
Saeya has also made another hat called Queen of the Junkyard Crown. Swirly has no aspirations to become the queen of any junkyard, but imagines that many of her readers do, so will post a picture of the hat anyway.
Here's hoping that Saeya will release many more fabulous hats at Kyoot. Preferably in pink, Saeya dear.

Chapeau tres Mignon - Tres Cute!

Megg Demina is a new designer who brings us some delightfully cute hats under the label "Chapeau tres Mignon". In English, that's "Very nice hat", which doesn't have quite the same ring to it. I met Megg by chance whilst shopping at Tableau and found out that she has been designing hats for a couple of months now, and already has quite an impressive collection on offer. These range from seriously stylish to just plain cute. Shown above is Gillian's Bunny Hat, which I fell in love with the minute I saw it. This is a classy fascinator with lacey ribbons and bows, perfect for a day at the races, topped off with a decapitated rabbit's head. Awwww! It's also available in white, maybe for weddings?

Shown below is the Skull Hat, which is just as quirky. Once again, the base of the hat shows traditional influences with the satin ribbons, but the use of colourful skull and rose patterned fabric and, um, a big skull departs from all conventional style and makes this quite a unique piece!
Chapeau tres Mignon has vendors at The Hawthouse and now also inside Savvy? at the Fashion Victim Headquarters, so go check out what else she has on offer. And Swirly is going to be SO jealous I found these first!

New from SiniStyle and Gritty Kitty

Krius Misfit from SiniStyle has released yet another must have item. Yup, just what you've always wanted, wearable snakes. Snake Bite is a cute belt and arm band featuring everyone's favourite cuddly animal, the rattlesnake. These are very detailed pieces, with the arm band weighing in at 71 prims and the belt 122 prims. The texturing is extremely realistic. To finish the look off, Gritty Kitty brings us 2 new unisex cowboy rocker hats with hair, Zombie and Ministry. Shown above is Ministry in Chocolate. You can pick these up at SiniStyle too, or at the main Gritty Kitty store in Koreshan.
