Fashion Victim's Best of Hair Fair 2007

Hello dears, Swirly here with some of the most fabulous styles from the best designers at Hair Fair this year. Dakota and Stephanie will also give you their opinions on what's hot, but you just listen to Swirly, wouldn't want you making a serious fashion faux pas darlings! Of course there were many more marvelous designers featured at the Hair Fair than Swirly could possibly show you here, but she couldn't buy everything darlings, she doesn't have a husband with payment info on file!

Swirly LOVES Dolly in French Vanilla from Allure. This style has it all darlings, a gorgeous ribbon with pretty flowers attached, side swept bangs and those lovely fluffy alpha textures. Just divine!

A new hair designer premiering at Hair Fair this year is Armidi, brought to us by those clever people at Elephant Outfitters. There's some lovely hair for the boys, but alas, only one style for the girls so far. But what a style it is! The Bombshell lives up to its name, and Swirly just knows she will have men with payment info on file falling at her feet when she wears this hair.

Stephanie Misfit looks quite smart in the Mariya hair from artilleri. It would have looked much nicer on Swirly though.

Poor Dakota Buck looks like she is making a sad attempt to return to her childhood in the Dallas hair from artilleri. What next dear, school uniforms?

Aveda is a new range of realistic hair brought to us by ETD for Aveda Institutes, and darlings, everyone is just raving about it! In the picture above, Stephanie is wearing Long Wavy in Amber, Short Crop in Coffee, and Long Flip in Champagne. That's from left to right darlings, not all at once, that would be silly!
Of course, Stephanie is overshadowed by Swirly wearing the daring Short Bob in Champagne. Only a woman of substantial beauty like Swirly can get away with a style as blunt and edgy as this, which is why Swirly recommends that YOU don't even try.

Swirly loves the sleek, shiny and very sexy Gala II from Curio. Very shiny textures and super flexi darlings! Not a look every girl can pull off, but Swirly manages it effortlessly.

Dakota is wearing Joan in Auburn from Curl Up and Dye Salon. She almost looks pretty!

Also from Curl Up and Dye is Lucy in Red. Doesn't Swirly look adorable in this?

Swirly is wearing LadyGlam in Honey from Glamorous Ladies. Swirly hadn't come across this designer before and was delighted to see that someone is finally bringing some true style and glamour to Second Life!

Stephanie is wearing Kaoru in Brown from Kin Keiko. This style is slightly reminiscent of the movie There's Something About Mary, though Swirly can't put her finger on exactly what it is that reminds her of it.

Swirly just oozes class in Imaginary by the delectably divine Lost Thereian. This style is both playful and sophisticated, isn't Lost marvelous? And ohhhh so handsome too!

Of course, Stephanie had to try to outdo Swirly by buying Pierce, a special design by Lost, with 100% of proceeds going to Locks of Love. You get 48 gorgeous colours for only 2000L, and the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes from helping others. Isn't Lost just the BEST for giving all the proceeds from the sale of Pierce to poor little children who have no hair? And Stephanie dear, just because you purchased a special charity hairstyle doesn't mean you CARE, don't think we can't see right through you darling!

Dakota is wearing Repressed Inner Child from Nylon Outfitters. Dakota dear, just because you have a bizarre obsession with connecting with your "inner child", it does NOT give you permission to pick your nose during fashion shoots! Swirly doesn't know if this kind of thing is considered acceptable on other blogs, but it certainly won't be tolerated on Fashion Victim.
Dakota is in our faces yet again, this time wearing the rather oddly named YO GINA hair from Nylon. Really darlings, you would think Dakota could have at least bothered to run a brush through this hair before modelling it here.

Dakota is modelling Yuppie in Brown by Old Gravy. Yes darlings, only Dakota Buck could make a glamorous hairstyle like Yuppie look somewhat, well, trashy. Once again, something that would look much better on Swirly. Why these girls even bother is a mystery.........

This is Jem from Sinsation . Swirly just loves this soft, fluffy and modern style in the Mocha Highlights shade, it makes her look like a soccer mom who just slid out of bed after a hot night between the sheets.

First Impressions: Another fantastic store catering to knocked up hookers!

As you all know, the majority of second life designers are prejudice against poor pregnant woman so they hardly ever think of them when designing their clothes. Luckily for me I have found several stores that cater to woman who are walking around with a burden in them. One of these stores that clearly showed no prejudice against knocked up hookers was First Impressions. Very nice and sophisticated clothing for pregnant woman such as myself. As you can tell from the photograph on the um...right...yeah, the right....this outfit makes me look like I'm ready for the work place EVEN THOUGH I do not work because you all know that I am a domesticated housewife that is only good for spreading legs, becoming knocked up, and making my man some pot roast. And if that outfit is too sophisticated for you First Impressions also offers simple but styling cute outfits. And a simple outfit is just what I needed when I went out shopping for a bedroom set for my future burden. If my burden pops up and has a vagina like her mother and her mothers secret lover then she will definitely get this set for her bedroom. I will only teach my daughters to be great housewives and fun stuff like that. Well, I just really recommend First Impressions to any expecting hookers. It gives you class and sophistication, and if you're a knocked up hooker....I think you need that. And the wonderful designer, Pukk Abel, is just such a lovely woman! Very nice, and talented. Thank you Pukk for not letting us pregnant woman down! =)

I'm sure your husband is at work, so go visit these stores, but make sure you're back home soon enough to make his dinner and clean the house, okay!?

Beta Testing with Swirly

Hello dears. Swirly was reading through what is left of the official forums when she noticed a section called "Beta Test Grid (Preview)". Swirly was irresistibly drawn to the word "preview" the same way she is drawn to the words freebie, review copy and Krispy Kreme, and immediately downloaded the beta client to see what new goodies the Lindens had to offer her. Taking her new job as a beta tester seriously, Swirly armed herself with pen and paper, ready to assist the Lindens by pointing out every little flaw in the new software.

Folklore Dress, Feather & Shell Earrings, 50s Dangle Owl and Patent MaryJane Ballets from boing fromage
Retro Bug Sunglasses from FNKY! & Cake
Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
Zsazsa's Paris Wig and Supersize Diamond Top Eyelashes by ZsaZsa Withnail
The first MAJOR flaw that Swirly discovered was that her home location was unavailable and she was logged on to the grid at Miramare. Swirly tried numerous times to TP home but discovered that her home sim was not even on the map, probably deleted by over zealous Lindens in an attempt to further raise land prices. Lindens, this is NOT acceptable! The Lindens had a ploy to distract Swirly from the theft of her home sim however, a payment of 5000L to Swirly's account. Naturally, this was effective and Swirly decided to go on a shopping spree.

WHAT?? No shops??? Darlings, Swirly is sorry to have to let you know that the next version of Second Life contains hardly any shops. Almost all of Swirly's favourite stores are GONE. Search showed up but a tiny handful of stores. This renders Second Life completely unusable, and Swirly recommends that you all contact Linden Labs right now to complain!

Sleeveless Printed Frock 2 from boing fromage
Lolita Heart Sunglasses from Nylon Outfitters
Wilma Pearl Necklace from Kitty's Rampage
Balloo Funky Earrings from Mimi Therian Designs
Flower Sandals from Lo Lo
Jasmine Hair in Platinum from ETD
Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
Fortunately, there were a handful of shops in the Miramare sim, most of which Swirly had never heard of. Shops with names like Barnes Boutique, Nylon Outfitters, Fashionably Dead, boing fromage, etc and Lo Lo........ Swirly figured they must be obscure new designers just starting out. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, especially not beggars with 5000L burning a hole in their pocket...
Mohair Crochet Robe Kit, Feather & Shell Earrings, and Patent MaryJane Ballets from boing fromage
Jackie O. Glasses from Nylon Outfitters
Supafly Afro from O & E
Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
Swirly popped into the oddly named boing fromage store which is run by elka Lehane, and was quite surprised to find quite a number of stylish and classy outfits. Yes, outfits that Swirly would actually WEAR. Well done elka darling!
Broken Hearts MiniDress, Feather & Shell Earrings, and 50s Dangle Owl from boing fromage
Flower Sandals from Lo Lo
Vanessa Hair in Platinum from ETD
Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
Swirly was delighted to find some wonderful skins with colourful makeups at the rather morbidly named store Fashionably Dead. How Toast Bard manages to stay in business with a store by that name defies belief, which may be why the skins are priced at only 750L for a pack of 8. Bargain darlings!

Hummingbird Sparkle & Fade Tank and Plaid Cuffed BoyShorts from boing fromage
Wilma Pearl Necklace from Kitty's Rampage
Balloo Funky Earrings from Mimi Therian Designs
Flower Sandals and Plaid Bucket Hat from Lo Lo
Lolita Heart Sunglasses from Nylon Outfitters
Jasmine Hair in Platinum from ETD

Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
Swirly found the most fabulous accessory store in Miramare called Lo Lo. The designer Caroline Apollo makes incredibly stylish shoes, hats, handbags and hair. Swirly was NOT impressed that some of the handbags have a littering feature, which means that distasteful items such as condoms, pill bottles and kitchen sinks fall out of your bag as you walk. Really darling, there is just no need for this, in real life or SL. Please make sure that any future bags include properly closing clasps.
Long Tiered Crochet Skirt - Off White, Tintable Laine Bolero, Urban Bohemiam Ankle Wrap Flats and Cameo & Sautoir Set from boing fromage
"Fran" Hair in Golden from Calico Creations
Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
One positive feature of the next release of Second Life that Swirly discovered during beta testing is that lag has been completely eliminated. Swirly was able to wander freely around what remains of grid without experiencing any lag at all! Swirly can be seen above dancing in a completely lag free environment.Another new feature is the removal of most other avatars - clubs and stores are empty and there is barely a green dot on the map to indicate the presence of anyone else at all. Swirly can only assume that this means that Linden Labs has deleted the 2 million plus "no payment info on file" accounts that have been slowing down the grid for quite some time. Swirly thinks this is a good thing, as clearly, men with no payment info on file do NOT make the best husbands.
Heather & Blue Stripey TankDress and Patent MaryJane Ballets from boing fromage
Candy necklace from Kru's Boutique
Balloo Funky Earrings from Mimi Therian Designs
Lolita Heart Sunglasses from Nylon Outfitters
V Pincurls Blonde Hair from Old Gravy
Shiny Skin in Light from Fashionably Dead
The last store that Swirly discovered was Nylon Outfitters. With a name like that, Swirly was expecting to find a poor selection of tacky synthetic outfits. Instead, Swirly found some of the best accessories she has seen in SL. Heart shaped glasses darlings, go buy them now!

All in all, Swirly was disappointed with her preview of the next version of Second Life. The removal of key features such as shopping and half the grid is clearly a backward step on behalf of Linden Labs. Still, Swirly was impressed by the lag free environment and the introduction of 5000L stipends. There does appear to be a major issue with the asset server however - when Swirly logged back into the main grid she found that what remained of her 5000L was GONE, along with all the fabulous new things she had just purchased. Swirly will be complaining loudly and at length to Linden Labs about this, and contacting the creators she purchased the items from to demand immediate replacements.
